Volunteer Day of the NatWest Island Games XII, Rhodes 2007 was successfully organised with the support of the National Bank of Greece, “”Gold Sponsor” of the Game Volunteers. The highlight of the event was the performance of the Greek popular music band C Real. Many people attended and the Deputy Mayor responsible for the Games Mr. Taraslias, welcomed them and made a call to every citizen to support the organisation and to participate in the Games as volunteers.
Many existing volunteers were present wearing t-shirts with the Games’ Mascot “Rhodelios”. The event marked the official start of sales of “Rhodelios” and a “live mascot” attracted the interest of children and grown-ups. Brochures and balloons were distributed during the event, while Volunteer Applications were available to those who wished to actively support the Games.
More brochures, information and souvenirs will be available soon in the Games Boutique (the office previously used for Olympic Games support and information) that has been refurbished for the Island Games.
The campaign to raise the awareness and participation of the local population will continue with info days at junior schools, high schools, the Aegean University and with participation to in other public events.
