Construction at the athletic venues that will be used for the NatWest Island Games XII, Rhodes 2007, is progressing at a very intense pace. The Kalipatira Sports Complex which will host the Athletics and Beach Volley and where the “Heart of the Games will beat” will be renovated to such an extent that once completed will be a “jewel” for the island. At present, a battle against the clock is being waged so that the Complex can be ready at Games time.
The construction at the Kapodistriou Shooting Hall and the Kalamona Shooting Range is progressing at a satisfactory pace, and the Tennis courts at the Rhodes Tennis Club (ROAN) and the Archery Field at the Fitorio are just nearing completion. On the other hand the construction and improvements at the Clay Target Range at Afandou and at the Petaloudon Indoor Hall are progressing slowly. The Organizing Committee has focused its attention on these two venues.
The Organizing Committee would like to let the public know that it has opened it official souvenier store “Rhodes 2007” at the former infokiosk on Alexandrou Diakou Street next to the Sound and Light Theater. Currently the mascot of the games Rhodelios and the Games souvenier medals are on sale. Shortly a full set of souveniers, t shirts, hats mugs etc will be available.
The Sponsor Program is also progressing at a satisfactory pace. A Sponsor for Table Tennis (Rhodos Air and Neotex) was recently announced, and on the verge of signing up are the sponsors for Golf, Shooting and the Rhodes Team. Basketball, Cycling, Tennis, Volleyball and Judo are still available.
We invite all businesses that are interested in promoting and associating themselves with this sporting celebration to contact the Organizing Committee (22410 23607 & 22410 39707) so that they can be informed of the various advertising packages that are available. It must be mentioned that the basic sponsors of the Games are Rhodian businesses, with first and foremost the Mega Sponsor of the Games, the Ioannis Kypriadis Group of Companies, a fine example of the of the support that the local business community is giving to this large and unique sporting event.
